Basildon District Council History

Basildon District Council, established on April 1, 1974, emerged as a key local government authority in Essex, England, following a significant local government reorganization. It was formed through the amalgamation of various smaller local authorities, including the Basildon Urban District Council and portions of the Billericay Urban District Council and Thurrock Rural District Council. This consolidation aimed to provide more efficient and coordinated services to the growing population within the Basildon district.
